However this made me laugh. It's a long overdue development.

Could it be that for the first time, the English are starting to wake up to the reality that competitive sport is actually about the WINNING, and NOT the taking part?

I certainly hope so. Perhaps this new attitude may extend to everything else that the English do in a half-arsed way, ranging from terrible restaurant service, right up to running the country...

Let's have a bit more complaining, and a bit less of the "stiff upper lip don't make a fuss" approach...

Also, is it just me, or does anyone else think that Ferdinand accusing the fans of being "ignorant" is a little bit rich...

I know litle about football, but putting someone competitive (and foreign) in charge of the England Cricket team does seem to have lit a fire under them.

As for the England football team, well they get "pride" for playing for their country. They get 2 bankers bonuses per second for playing for their clubs. Why should they give a fuck about the national game?

At least when the Tories got in, they didn't say their priorities were "Mining, Mining, Mining" - Mark Steel

But when they get a little past it, they go on to...lesser clubs for sillier money that they'd get at home, I think as they become big fish in a small pond.

For a dodgy pie and a watered down pint in a plastic beaker. You are treated as potential hooligans by the police and stewards. The transport situation at Wembley makes it a nightmare getting home afterwards.

You see a load of overpaid primadonnas who can't break down a team which is the equivalent of a League 1 (old money third division) in terms of players for 70 minutes and you see supposedly the best left back in the premiership make a mistake of park football standards to let in the goal. After that it's not suprising people have lost patience with the England football team.

What I find puzzling is that people are still prepared to shell out that sort of cash to watch it.
Perhaps it's an English masochism thing?

Whatever happened to the free market? Londoners are quite happy to support Man U. Perhaps the English should start to support foreign national sides, until such time as England gets its act together...

Nothing would delight the scots more than a lot of English fans joining them.
